DeepDota Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-18
DeepDota ("the app") is a free Dota 2 draft and item assistant for Windows, built on Overwolf's ow-electron framework. This policy explains what the app reads, where that data goes, and what stays on your computer.
What the app reads
- Game data. While Dota 2 runs, the app receives game events from Overwolf's Game Events Provider and from Valve's Game State Integration: the draft (heroes picked and banned, your side and position), the match phase, the result, and your own hero, items, gold and level. It does not read other players' names or Steam IDs.
- Your Steam account ID. The app reads the most recently signed-in account from your local Steam client, or uses the ID you type in settings. It is used only to look up your own public match history.
- Your STRATZ API token (optional). If you enter one, it is encrypted with Windows data protection and stored on your computer.
Where data goes
DeepDota has no servers and no user accounts, and the app itself does not send analytics.
- OpenDota (api.opendota.com): your Steam account ID is sent to look up your recent heroes and rank. OpenDota's own privacy policy applies.
- STRATZ (api.stratz.com), only if you saved your own token: your account ID, and for STRATZ Plus suggestions the heroes in the current draft and the skill bracket, are sent with your token. STRATZ's own privacy policy applies.
- Overwolf: the app runs on Overwolf's framework, which may collect anonymous usage data and, if ads are shown, advertising data, under the Overwolf Platform Privacy Policy. You can review and change your choices at any time under Settings → Privacy → Privacy settings.
These requests go directly from your computer to those services.
What stays on your computer
Settings, your match records (draft, picks, the app's predicted win
chance, the result) and game event logs are stored in
%APPDATA%\DeepDota and never uploaded by DeepDota. You can
delete individual matches in the app, or delete that folder to remove
everything. Uninstalling the app leaves the folder in place.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
